Gas spring

Lifting - pressing - balancing weights

The gas spring is a component that is particularly suitable for transmitting axial forces. Gas struts are used, for example, in the automotive industry, mechanical engineering, the furniture industry and medical technology. They offer a precise and controlled application of force, are reliable and durable. Thanks to the wide range of possible variations, gas springs have proven themselves in almost all modern designs. Our more than fifty years of experience enable us to select a gas spring variant from our large range that is specifically suited to your needs.

Gas spring

Functionality and usage

A gas spring consists of a cylinder filled with gas and a piston that moves in this cylinder. When a force is exerted on the piston, the gas in the cylinder is compressed and a counterforce is generated that moves the piston and the object attached to it.

When a load is applied to the spring, the piston in the cylinder is compressed and the gas pressure increases. This pressure generates a force that counteracts the weight of the load and thus creates a balance. Gas springs can also be used to control the speed of movements or to enable a controlled release of force.

There are different types of gas springs, which have different characteristics depending on the application and design.

As the name suggests, spring-loaded locking gas springs have a spring function and are able to support or control movements. Rigid locking gas springs, on the other hand, are designed to fix and hold a moving object in a fixed position without allowing it to move.

Thanks to its variation options, the gas strut is used in many areas, such as the automotive industry, mechanical engineering, the furniture industry and medical technology.
